Aishwaraya Rawat, a 22year old girl residing in Urban area of Guwahati, was unmarried and was pursuing BBA from a college in Silchar, Assam,in the year 2022. She had a history of sexual abuse in her childhood which made her anxious and restless for years. She  never got proper love and affection from her family members,which made her seek emotional support from outside. This worsened her scenario as she was cheated by her boyfriend because he abandoned her.

In March 2024, Aishwarya started to feel anxious and could not sleep throughout the night. She was emotionally unstable and was not able to take any right decision. She began to lose her concentration and focus in studies, inspite of having  with very good academic records. This deprived her of  all the spark in her life. Gradually, she began to feel frustrated and angry with herself but she was not able to  share it with anyone causing sudden mood fluctuations and impulsive outbursts. Her relationship with her family got strained and family adjustment problem began to arise .This resulted in periodic fainting.

In March 2024, Aishwarya started to feel anxious and could not sleep throughout the night. She was emotionally unstable and was not able to take any right decision. She began to lose her concentration and focus in studies, inspite of having  with very good academic records. This deprived her of  all the spark in her life. Gradually, she began to feel frustrated and angry with herself but she was not able to  share it with anyone causing sudden mood fluctuations and impulsive outbursts. Her relationship with her family got strained and family adjustment problem began to arise .This resulted in periodic fainting.

During Psychological evaluation, she appeared anxious, her tongue shivered causing slurry speech .This was accompanied by her body was trembling. After further inspection it was found that she had a history of Depressive episodes, parental neglect, family adjustment problems and loss of appetite. She also reported loss of interest in work & studies and increased inclination towards romantic relationships. All of these symptoms made her feel frustrated and agitated and she also mentioned that she attempted suicide twice due to mental distress.

She was then admitted to Nirvan hospital as she attempted sucide for the third time and was diagnosed with Behaviour personality disorder/ Boderline personality disorder and  Emotinally  unstable personality  disorder .She had other self harm tendencies .Then the treatment began, where the patient was prescribed proper medications and psychological therapy management plan that included CBT, Psychopharmacological treatment, Relaxation Therapy, Psychoeducation, and Family Therapy. Additionally, she was given severalcareer  counselling sessions and Focus- Reviving Therapy to help her re-engage with her studies to rejuvenate her interest towards acadamics and work.

However, it was not an easy road but with the help of proper compliance, the patient started showing speedy recovery. She took the prescribed medicines and actively involved in the therapy sessions conducted by Nirvan Hospital.During the treatment process ,her problems compounded several times as she had mental outburst and emotional Hijack.

After persistent efforts from the medical staff she began to feel confident and reframe her negative thoughts with positive thought patterns. Finally she started to discover her real.Moreover, in the family therapies, which were not without emotional outburst and mood swings ,her conflicts with parental adjustments were addressed and were resolved leading to her overall well being and happiness.

As mentioned in the title , “SUCCESS IS NOT FINAL; FAILURE IS NOT FATAL. it is the courage to continue that counts…”. This reflects the vision of the medical staff  where they stand determined to  consistently motivate and support each and every life, giving them courage and self  reliance for a new and brighter future, even when they are in their worst space.

Today, Aishwarya has now successfully completed her MBA and is flourishing in her life both personally and professionally. Her story had inspired many to prioritize their mental health, besides never losing hope and seek help when needed.
